After the harvest, many vegetables and fruit are preserved for long periods under 'Controlled Atmosphere' (CA) or 'Ultra Low Oxygen' (ULO) conditions. This enables the products to be supplied throughout the year whilst the quality is maintained.
Through CA/ULO application, the physiological processes in the stored product are retarded/inhibited which extends the shelf life. The required preserving conditions are realised by creating an atmosphere with an increased CO2 (carbon dioxide), a reduced O2 (oxygen) concentration and a product focused temperature/humidity. By storing your products within this atmosphere, you can control the ripening process
Each type of product requires different conditions. Dependent upon factors such as climate, weather, soil conditions, growing conditions and time of picking, the optimal conditions differ not only per year, but also per product and even per species. As experts within CA/ULO preservation, we can offer tailor-made solutions and monitoring options.
