A PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) nitrogen generator produces pure nitrogen from normal environmental air. It can be used for removing oxygen from a room, for example.
The Besseling PSA consists of two vessels with an extremely high-grade CMS (carbon molecular sieve). The molecular sieve is able to adsorb oxygen molecules for a specific period of time. Following saturation, it automatically switches to the second vessel via the alternating valves. The saturated vessel is regenerated for the next cycle by reducing the pressure in the vessel through discharging the adsorbed oxygen molecules. This simple principle significantly enhances reliability and extends the lifespan.
